The official altitude of the world's highest peak is 29029 ft. above sea level. However, the national geographic has measured it 29035 ft. but the Nepali government has not yet been made this new altitude official. The famous mountain lays in the Himalayans along the border of Nepal and Tibet. Everest is also called Sagarmatha " Mother of Universe" in Nepal. Mount Everest has an extreme Climate. The best time to climb Mount Everest is in early May before the Monsoon season.
Seven weeks of climbing New Zealander Edmund Hiliary and Neplease Tenzing Norgay reached the top of Mount Everest on May 29 1953. They were the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest successfully.
In 1924, before Hiliary and Tenzing successfully reached the summit, two other expeditions got too close. They were George Leigh Mallory and Andrew "Sandy" Irvine. Many people still wonder if Mallory and Irvine might have been the first to make it to the top of the Mount Everest. However, since the two man didn't make it down the mountain alive, perhaps we'll never know for sure.
Appa Sherpa has reached the top 11 times.
Ang Rita Sherpa has reached the summit 10 times, all without oxygen.
